...one of the reasons I came to Games was that my research showed a lack of females working in the industry, but also that I could utilise & build upon my fashion & design to become a niche 'skill' in this creative environment by designing clothes/fabrics etc for games. My research & development however gained some pace, with so many idea's for games growing & then becoming rooted & branching off, that I felt my fashion had gotten a tad lost....& maybe me too!
Fashion Games: I approached some contacts I have in fashion, including Head Office at New Look, & the Director of Fashion Capital. Unfortunately nothing came from New Look & have since seen they have a game, but I was asked my friend at FC to come up with ideas she could use for her fashion organization. I explained I was studying Games Art but would do some 'mindmapping'. My ideas did not seem original, or unique enough for me; I don't follow or copy others, whilst I could foresee that other ideas would not be viable, or be fast enough to keep up with today's fast-moving fashions, or had already been done in whatever capacity. Some of my research involved looking at fashion games, which mainly seemed for the younger audience: dressupgames.com i-dressup.com girlsgogames.co.uk oyunlar1.com I am sure I have played some of the above with my Niece - who is 5...a lot of these games are very young in style; both artwork & fashions. dressup9x.com -however I found a 'Bella Cullen' game here for a more teen/older girl market, with more life-like graphics & a trend-led wardrobe.
I am looking at overdrawing on photographs, & although this video is more crude in it's oversketch than I was anticipating, it stirred a different creative viewpoint to try: #
& have looked at movies, bought Moulin Rouge Book & DVD to view the design styles:

& music video's, including of course 'Moulin Rouge' that have 'designed' costumes that I could see on characters in a game; some overdramatic & others more simplistic:
The emotive feel to this video, the opulent & ornate decor, & fitted yet revealing sexy costumes - including Scarlett's motor, has a definite resonance on my ideas for the fashion & burlesque/fetish feel of my designs that I want explore further.
The creatures & sounds of the sea, the ocean colours, beach shades & waves of change are all inpirational
If superhero-mermaid's wore shoes....green jewelly-gems of the sea!
Costumes are very sexual, figure-hugging & revealing, spiky yet retaining glitz & glamour. A feeling of taking it to the edge!
& more music videos of dancers, & shows are giving inspiration, which now leads me to look at dancing & 'shows' as a dress-up game.
Shoes & accessories are vital pieces to help the player create & style an outfit, whether for dancing or traipsing through the mud! (The following pictures are on my Pinterest, & have usually been found on there & Facebook, credits given if available.)

This gave me some inspiration to look in into an adult fairytale game; follow a theme of love or lust

Words will also play a part of this game, helping to inspire & guide the game-player. I write on my Facebook, creating small sayings & quotes, happy & positive workings to bring a smile & share; this keeps my 'word-brain' in practice, & helps develop my creative writing to then be able to ransfer to my games, in compiling short meaningful statements to instruct & inspire.
