Kids Character Game: Cuddles & Chaos

(I looked at various names & also 'Kuddles&Kayos', but with writing the words correctly, I know that this all helps teach correct spelling to children!)

Having Nieces, I was introduced to little girls cartoon characters, & loved the simplistic & colourful naivety. I had an idea to create a child's book/cartoon, which would lead onto a game.

The main character ideas are:

  1. Round, pale-faced but healthy happy girl, with long blonde-rasta locks She drives a flower-beetle car; her LoviBug, which has a hole in the top for her hair to fly free. She is very HAPPY, ALL of the time & kind to everyone. She is also very busy & loves nature; has pets, grows fruit, flowers etc & talks with a slight lisp.
  2. Shaun The Sleepless Sheep: very slow, so laid back - almost horizontal, fluffy wool, but has a waggy tail; like a lamb, big & droop eyes, & yawns a lot. He speaks veeeeery slooooowly, & can be grumpy.
  3. FlameFairy: tiny-tiny, red-haired tomboy fairy, with BIG personality. Moves super quick through the trees & across the seas, chatters non-stop but always makes sense....so listen or you will miss out!
  4. Inspiration for furniture at the bottom of the sea: sea chairs for mermaids!
  5. FoxyFunFish: Big-heart-shaped lips, very friendly, big eyelashes, brightly coloured & full of fun!
  6. Sparkly & TwinklyStarfish:
My little Special Starfish travels with me <3
  7. MermaidMarion: Lives at the botom of the sea: & uses FoxyFunFish, & the SparklyStarfish pair to get to the top to spend her days having fun & causing mischief with the others:
    1. Funky Frog
      Costa Rican Variable Harlequin Toad
  8. Rosy Maple Moth: pink fluttery, pretty & very beautiful moth; very long fluttering eye-lashes! Very wise too...

Gave ideas for creating the characters in fruit & veg, & even wood, stone, metal. The colours are vivid & from nature, & so can be educational too.

I have looked at children's cartoons & games, both old & new, & saw that some of these do also teach, which is what I would want this game to do.

Just some of the links I have perused to gain more insight into the young child's game, looking at colours, styles, 2d/3d, sound, animation, level, objectives etc:

Nickelodeon
Facebook Smurfs
Facebook Smurfs Village
Smurfs Game
Super Mario
Guardian
LEGO
Almost Naked Animals
Fairy Games: The Real Tooth Fairies

Including this video on Youtube created by a young boy, of a little girl playing Nickelodeon games....

& from cartoon animal characters to real-life creatures, I have watched various items. I have looked at how young animals move, their characters, skin, size & noises, etc. Although not creating real-life creatures, being aware of, & gaining inspiration from these, all assists in the designing process.
The BBC have a new programme, starting in February, about penguins: Penguins - Spy in the Huddle & will have an abundance of inspiration for a penguin character!

YouTube In the Jungle with "Baby Elephant" Bona and Aswita

I also spoke to my young relatives about games they play, & want to play; boys & girls are very different in what they want & expect!
