Neg2: The Drawings of Edward Burne-Jones: Lady Lever Art Gallery

I visit this gallery at times, have a coffee & a peruse. This exhibit will make a good excuse to treat my Mom to a coffee & cake, & a peruse of some artwork, allowing me to do my study at the same time!

As there is only 1 image on the news feature, I followed up with a Google search & came up with numerous, & varied, images, from simple explorative sketches to large paintings - some of which I have actually seen in the flesh, so to speak.

This image stood out straight away, with its dark metal blue of the sea, curved yet strong lines of the creature & naked female form, against the backdrop of ocean rocks. These are reminiscent of the colours, & a certain style, that I am reviewing, to use for the logo for my Neg 2: Mermaid game.

Edward Burne-Jones: Perseus
Edward Burne-Jones: The Kissed Mouth
Again, the metal-sea-blue colours, & the woman at sea drew me to this

There are other images I am looking at, but a good selection are on the Tate website, especially sketches & I also found a good selection of more painterly images on this blog, with a concise synopsis: Blog on: Edward Burne-Jones.

Me on video! Profile 6 - London Fashion Catwalk Show

It was quite a steep learning curve when, whilst still in my first year running my fashion label, we were bowled over to actually be selected to show a collection on the catwalk in London at Profile 6....still in our first year! A lot of organizing & tumultuous amounts of work & hours of me with no sleep ensued, along with a growing budget, but the Frocked team had an amazing experience, & although immediate sales did not materialise, the brand coverage & development achieved would have been unachievable without this platform, & the material I collated for Frocked promotional literature was insurmountable. There were some big high street names, plus the late fashion icon Isabella Blow, who commented on the cut of our garments. I had fantastic support & met some great new contacts; still in contact with some today, & was also asked to be interviewed....jump along to 1.45min to see snippets of Frocked de la Valliere sashaying down the catwalk; Daisy Lowe glimpses past in the Cappuccino frock, & at 5.14min, where I am talking!

Creative Futures: UX Training Program, London - June, 2013 - Eventbrite

I spotted this course, far too expensive for me at the moment, but also noticed they have a GUI course too! I will look into the training company at a later date & see what they offer, & if I deem the course/s suitable; I strongly believe in personal self-development & further training.

Glyndŵr University - Stella Cottrell

I may have missed this seminar: Academic Study Skills Conference 2013, of which I think I would have found even more useful at the start of my return to study, but if I follow on with further study, & even lecturing/teaching, then I now know of an author/book that reads extremely useful!

Friday 7 June 2013
Study skills textbooks written by respected academic Dr Stella Cottrell have sold all over the world.
The author of the Study Skills Handbook (SSH) and Director for Lifelong Learning at the University of Leeds will share her vision for higher learning at Glyndwr University on Monday June 17.
She will be keynote speaker at the free event, entitled ‘Looking Forward: Academic Study Skills in the 21st Century’.
Held at the Catrin Finch Centre, it will include seminars, break-out and advice sessions, student recruitment workshops and presentations.
In her speech, Dr Cottrell looks at changes in the study skills landscape and will address their impact on higher education in the future.
“Over the last decade there has been much greater recognition of the importance of study skills,” said Dr Cottrell, who authored a number of textbooks as part of the Palgrave Study Skills series. "Most universities and colleges now provide study skills in some form to their students.
“I have always thought that good, timely study skills provision is essential to enabling students to perform at their best – no matter what their level. That view hasn’t changed.
“I have very strong views about study skills, as you might imagine.”
She added: “Since the first edition of the SSH many years ago, I have a character in one of the illustrations who says “personalise it”.
“I find that the twin considerations of personalisation and context are key to effective study skills. From that, you can gather that I don’t buy in to a uniform approach.”

Cover supervisor Teacher job - Teaching Personnel Ltd - Wirral | Indeed.co.uk

I am contemplating teaching, & thus looking into various teaching posts that are advertised by agencies & educational establishments. I am actually registered with quite a number of online employment agencies, but do need to update & review my profiles, & CV. Although, due to still being registered, I get email updates & this post was in 1 today: Cover supervisor Teacher job - Teaching Personnel Ltd - Wirral | Indeed.co.uk The advert is however for secondary schools, & I am looking into further education, as, from my research, lecturing or teaching/assessing post-compulsory education age, is far more suited to me & easier to get into. But, I will follow up wit more research & see if they have other options, advice, or website to register my details.
