I am a member of a few groups on LinkedIn, & one of my updates today gave some informative, & thought-provoking advice, in reply to trying to get a job as an artist in games. I do question whether I have the necessary skill, or expertise to even apply for work in games, & reading these posts really hasn't imbued any more confidence in me. However, it is all industry-specific advice & simply clarifies my thoughts on demanding/needing a stupendous portfolio, & to keep learning to develop one's skills & knowledge, pertinent to the selected roles. One of the replies is quite apt to UI:
Too many artists and not enough jobs
Any thoughts on this? I've been searching for years and it's just so tough to break into the gaming industry as an artist.
What are some possible alternatives for artists who can't find work in the industry?

Rohn M. Dungee/info@rohndungee.com • Hey Mark. It may not be you, it may be your online portfolio that's holding you back. As a marketing professional I can tell you that if the only representation of you as an artist is represented in the form of an online portfolio, than how your work is presented in that online portfolio is just as important as the actual work. Reconsider your color selection, navigation and font to a choice that "hits" your user in the face and makes your page a pleasant place to be. You do that successfully and your appeal will go way up with recruiters. Hope this helps. - Dungee
